Utilizing AI Summaries to help students resolve registration issues independently.

Students often encountered confusing or unexplained roadblocks when attempting to register for courses. This project focused on designing a troubleshooting experience that helps students understand why they can’t register and what actions they can take to resolve issues in real time.

User Needs & Pain Points

Through stakeholder workshops and user feedback, we identified several key challenges:

  • Students lacked visibility into eligibility issues, time conflicts, and registration holds.

  • Errors surfaced too late in the flow, after significant effort had been spent building a schedule.

  • The existing system relied on administrative support to troubleshoot, causing delays and frustration.

Design Goals

  • Provide clear, actionable feedback at the moment a registration issue occurs.

  • Reduce dependency on support teams by enabling self-service resolution.

  • Account for complex academic rules while keeping the experience intuitive and focused

My Role Goals

  • Led UX strategy and design for a troubleshooting experience that surfaced real-time, actionable guidance during course registration.

  • Partnered with product, engineering, and ML teams to balance usability with complex academic rules.
